I. GENERAL MANAGER - DRILLING & INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT

Job Title: General Manager - Drilling & Infrastructure Development (1 Post)

Terms of Employment: 5 Year Contract Renewable Once subject to Performance

Job Grade: GDC2

Directorate: Drilling & Infrastructure Directorate

Reporting to: Managing Director & CEO

a) Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for infrastructural development, drilling of geothermal wells, fleet management and logistical support services, maintenance of drilling and plant equipment and overall project management.

b) Job Specification

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

i. Managing design, development, creation and maintenance of small-scale to large-scale civil and engineering works including but not limited to construction of buildings, roads and well pads.

ii. Directing safe and efficient drilling, work-over and completion operations on all GDC operated and contracted rigs.

iii. Providing technical support and leading Drilling Operations, Equipment Maintenance, Fleet and Logistics Management and Infrastructure teams for smooth operations.

iv. Overseeing GDC drilling and related projects including monitoring of drilling operations service providers in accordance with company authorized and agreed project objectives including but not limited to safety, schedule, scope, quality, and budget.

v. Coordinating internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects.

vi. Facilitating project delivery on time, within scope and within budget.

vii. Evaluating GDC’s project in terms of scope, project schedule, and project costs using appropriate techniques.

viii. Promoting efficient budget management including coordination of all procurement and logistics for drilling and infrastructure development.

ix. Providing professional leadership in the development and implementation of Corporate Strategic plans in order to ensure efficient and cost-effective provision of services.

x. Developing and implementing strategies for creating a high performing organizational culture based on transparency, integrity, accountability, performance management and results to ensure that program activities are undertaken on sound management principles and practices.

xi. Initiating organizational performance reviews and business process improvement programs.

xii. Provide leadership in the enhancement of the Company’s communication strategy and the protection of the GDC brand among its critical stakeholders.

xiii. Handling employees’ performance and related Human Resource matters.

c) Person Specification

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: -

i. A minimum of fifteen (15) years of relevant work experience, five (5) of which must be in a senior managerial role.

ii. Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.

iii. Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Civil, Mechatronics, Electrical, Geoscience, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining Engineering, or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution.

iv. Professional certification in a relevant field.

v. Leadership course lasting not less than four (4) weeks (cumulative).

vi. Registered Professional by Engineers Board of Kenya/ Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board or equivalent.

vii. Proficiency in computer applications.

viii. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six of the Constitution.
