Job DescriptionDuties and responsibilities will entail: i. Aligning departmental strategic goals and objectives with the company’s strategic goals and objectives and ensure implementation for achievement of the company’s mandate. ii. Setting departmental performance targets and work plans in line with the department’s performance targets and ensuring their achievement. iii. Development and monitoring of the department’s annual budget and procurement plan for effective and efficient delivery of drilling operations. iv. Managing execution of contracts. v. Providing leadership on staffing, development and performance management programs while ensuring staff are motivated for good team performance. vi. Spearheading support negotiations and building of relationship with external service providers to the benefit of the company’s image, cost and long-term support on material and service delivery. vii. Overseeing the establishment and implementation of a sound risk management system within the department. viii. Spearheading project infrastructural planning e.g., Access Road, drill pads, water supply system, power supplies and installation of other facilities such as office buildings, storage, laydown, and camping facilities in the geothermal fields. ix. Management of all data, information, and records related to Infrastructural development. x. Management and execution of contracts relating to Infrastructure development. |
| Job Specification | xi. Preparation of rig move plans and material delivery plans for the various wells that are planned for drilling. xii. Manage all construction equipment owned and operated by GDC. xiii. Spearhead stakeholder engagement in all matters infrastructure development and manage expectations and deliverables as requested by and all customers and stakeholders. xiv. Advises Management on pertinent issues related to the design, project management, construction, and commissioning of projects. xv. Timely procurement and delivery of materials and equipment for the department. xvi. Management of all data, information, and records related to the department. b) Person SpecificationFor appointment to this grade, a candidate must have: - i. A minimum of twelve (12) years of relevant work experience, four (4) years of which should have in a management role. ii. Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution. iii. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following Engineering fields: - Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Agricultural, Mining Engineering, Energy/ Geothermal/ Drilling Technology, or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. iv. Management course lasting not more than four (4) weeks. v. Registered Professional by Engineers Board of Kenya/Kenya Engineering Technology Registration Board or equivalent. vi. Proficiency in computer applications. vii. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter 6 of the constitution of Kenya.
