1. GENERAL MANAGER - BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Job Title: General Manager - Business Development (1 Post)

Job Reference Number: GDC/CS/HRM/BD/01/2025

Terms of Employment: 5 Year Contract Renewable Once subject to Performance

Job Grade: GDC2

Directorate: Business Development

Reporting to: Managing Director & CEO

a) Job Summary

The job holder is responsible for the business development arm of the Company, project management, community relations, research and innovation and management of the geothermal resource center.

b) Job Specification

Duties and responsibilities will entail: -

i. Oversee technical evaluation of Direct Use projects (feasibility studies) to assess demand and supply of the Direct Use products

ii. Oversee steam field management, the utilization of geothermal resources and resource optimization

iii. Identify and evaluate the financial and economic viability of existing and new business opportunities

iv. Manage research and innovation activities

v. Capacity building of researchers and innovators on quality research and innovation processes

vi. Incubate and commercialize inventions and innovations in the Company

vii. Management of GDC consultancy services

viii. Identity, research, evaluate, promote, commercialize, manage and facilitate Direct Use opportunities, innovations and know-how for financial sustainability

ix. Initiate, develop charters, coordinate execution, manage funding protocols, monitor and evaluate projects for smooth running and timely completion of projects that meet their objectives

x. Ensure that the set sales targets are realized consistently in value and volume

xi. Develop/review geothermal business and funding models to identify optimal geothermal development strategy

c) Person Specifications

For appointment to this grade, an officer must have: -

i. A minimum of fifteen (15) years of work experience, at least five (5) years of which must have been in a senior management role

ii. Bachelor’s Degree in any of the following disciplines: Engineering; Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and Electronics, Agricultural, Mining Engineering, Energy/ Geothermal/ Drilling Technology; Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, Statistics, Economics, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or any other equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

iii. Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Risk Management, Statistics, Economics, Actuarial Science, Project Management, Monitoring and Evaluation or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution

iv. Leadership Course lasting not less than four (4) weeks (cumulative)

v. Be a member of a relevant professional body

vi. Proficiency in computer applications

vii. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya
