Job Title: Principal Insurance Officer (1 Post) Job Reference Number: GDC/HRM/CSLS/LS/PLSO/02/2026 Terms of Employment: Permanent. Job Grade: GDC 5 Department: Insurance & Board Secretarial Reports To: Manager – Insurance & Board Secretarial Salary Range: KES 170,000 – KES 260,000 per month.
a) Job DescriptionDuties and responsibilities will entail: - i. Supervises the development of sound insurance and regulatory affairs policies and procedures. ii. Provides technical guidance on the development and implementation of policies, procedures and strategies to ensure the company complies with applicable regulations, and in tandem with changing government and industry legislation. iii. Ensure that all necessary licensing, filings, certifications, and permits are duly obtained and monitored to always ensure compliance. iv. Organize the company’s insurance portfolio and provide quarterly reports on each policy, pertinent issues relating to each policy, claims lodged documentation status, expected settlement. v. Providing technical guidance in the Company’s insurance program. vi. Coordinate and guide on the preparation of insurance proposals. vii. | Job Specification | b) Person SpecificationsFor appointment to this grade a candidate must have: i. A minimum period of eight (8) years relevant work experience, three (3) of which must have been in supervisory role. ii. Master’s Degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution. iii. Bachelor of Commerce (Insurance), Social Science or equivalent from a recognized institution. iv. Supervisory course lasting not less than two (2) weeks. v. Membership of IIPK/SCII or any other relevant body vi. Proficiency in computer applications; and vii. Fulfilled the requirements of Chapter Six (6) of the Constitution of Kenya.
